Mount Anvil in partnership with L&Q
The Silk District is a new community in the heart of one of London's oldest areas, Whitechapel, London E1.
It is a significant joint venture partnership by Mount Anvil and L&Q with an estimated completion date in 2024. Located in Travel Zone 1, it is next door to The City, Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Aldgate, and Bethnal Green.
The Silk District is a landmark development and one of London’s top growth investment opportunities. The development benefits from a well-established East London urban setting rich with heritage, lively markets, diverse communities, prolific art, crafts, and culture. It is part of a £300 million regeneration area with funds dedicated to the new Queen Mary Bart’s Life Science medical research campus, and the Whitechapel Crossrail station. The best education is on the doorstep: just a 2-mins walk to Queen Mary University of London’s Whitechapel campus and within easy reach to many of London’s finest schools and universities
The development comprising three buildings with over 600 apartments, is set around a piazza with private landscaped gardens: The Jacquard, The Georgette North, The Georgette South, and The Bouchon.
Straddling two nearby conservation areas, the design focuses on connectivity and permeability, introducing new pedestrianised streets and squares. The predominantly brick and reconstituted stone design creates strong street-based frontages to the existing urban context. At the same time, a glass and aluminum-clad tower stands at the heart of the scheme, enhancing the future townscape of Whitechapel. In addition to residential, new commercial space is located on the ground floor.
Every apartment offers a modern interior that maximises light, space, and comfort while retaining all-important practicality. Each has been finished to the highest standard, with fully integrated appliances, a contemporary specification, and a private outdoor space.
Residents at The Silk District also have exclusive access to a suite of lifestyle amenities, offering a five-star hotel experience at home. These include a 24-hour concierge service, a private gym, a comfortable cinema room, two flexible workspaces, and rooftop gardens. The secure underground car park is equipped with charging points for electric vehicles.
The BouchonThe homes in The Bouchon have been crafted with considered details such as brushed gold brassware, a contrasting light and dark palette and contemporary appliances creating an enviable, comfortable living space that will stand the test of time. This is the last chance to call The Silk District home.
The Georgette South
The Georgette South is part of a collection of secluded residences, standing at seven floors tall. Homes here benefit from unique views of Canary Wharf – and balconies from which to enjoy them. Watch the twinkling lights of some of London's most recognised landmarks from your own home.
The Georgette North
Our buildings are named to honour the craft and luxury of Whitechapel's silk industry. Full of character and subtlety, Georgette is a light fabric typified by tightly interlaced silk threads. The seven-storey Georgette North was the second phase to launch at The Silk District.
