5 ways to reinvent your spare room

Published: 06/11/2020

Home office

The new norm is people working remotely from home and this may even be the way forward?

You’ll definitely need to invest in a desk and a comfortable chair but perhaps add some practical shelving or other storage as well? A noticeboard, some plants, and a lamp will complete your office and make your workspace even more inviting.

Home gym

Most spare rooms have an old exercise bike gathering dust in a corner so dust off the cobwebs and transform your room into a home gym?

Clear the decks and buy some free weights and an exercise mat.

Playroom

Having a designated playroom is a lifesaver. It needn’t break the bank to convert your spare room into a child-friendly haven. Get out the paintbrushes and paint bright colours on the walls.  Perhaps even get creative and paint a mural.  Move all their toys into the room and they will play happily in there for hours.

Teenage Den

Fed up of grumpy hormonal teenagers.  Put the X-box, a tv and a speaker in the room, throw in some bean bags, and they'll keep out of your hair for hours on end - job done.

Meditation space

Regardless of your spiritual leanings, things such as mindfulness and meditation are growing in popularity. Why not turn your room into the perfect space to retreat from the day-to-day stresses of living in lockdown?

Throwdown some meditation cushions for maximum effect and light some joss sticks.
